Tottenham are set to block exits for first-team duo Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp in January, sources have told Football Insider.

This comes following Spurs' recent swathe of injuries, including Rodrigo Bentancur's recent ligament tear which will keep him sidelined for around 10 weeks.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (1 December) that the club have accelerated plans to recruit a new midfielder in the wake of Bentencur's injury - which he sustained in their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa last week.

Hojbjerg is still wanted by Italian giants Juventus but he and Skipp are unlikely to leave N17 this winter unless replacements can be lined up.

Football Insider also revealed on Saturday (2 December) that Tottenham are monitoring the situation of frozen-out Man City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, but could face "massive competition" for his signature in January.

Spurs' unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign was spoiled by their growing injury list - which now includes the likes of Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Richarlison, Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Pape Sarr and Bentancur.

Hojbjerg has featured in all but one game for Tottenham this season but has mostly been reduced to substitute appearances.

He has made just three Premier League starts.

Skipp started Spurs' early-season League Cup defeat to Fulham and the opening league game against Brentford but has managed just 265 total minutes of action this term.

Hojbjerg's Spurs contract expires in June 2025, while Skipp penned a new deal last season to keep him in north London until 2027.

Tottenham have suffered three consecutive defeats in the league and next face Man City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (3 December).
