Sources: Tottenham make approach to sign Aarons as 'gentleman's agreement' over transfer revealed
Tottenham have registered their interest in signing Norwich City right-back Max Aarons this summer, Football Insider.
The London giants have made previous moves for the 21-year-old but were unable to convince Norwich to sell.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club have reignited their pursuit of Aarons after making a new right-back one of their main priorities this summer.
Encouragingly for Spurs and other suitors, Norwich are willing to let Aarons go in the upcoming window if their £30million asking price is met.
Daniel Farke's side have just clinched their second Championship title in three seasons while securing an instant return to the Premier League.
But Norwich had a "gentleman's agreement" with Aarons last summer that he could leave this year if he gave them one more season.
Football Insider revealed last month that the Canaries are already looking at right-back targets to replace Aarons.
A fee of £30m is needed to prise him from Carrow Road, although that could be more than Spurs are willing to pay.
Everton also have a strong interest in Aarons and have the money to blow Tottenham out of the water in a straight cash fight.
Tottenham signed Matt Doherty from Wolves last summer in a £15m deal but he has had a mixed debut season.
The Irishman has struggled to displace the erratic Serge Aurier from the starting XI, with the Ivorian given the nod to play the full 90 minutes of Sunday's 4-0 win over Sheffield United.
