Tottenham are keeping tabs on Aston Villa rising star Travis Patterson, Football Insider can reveal.

The left-back, 16, is regarded as the latest in a series of top-level youngsters emerging from the Villa academy.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the club’s talent spotters are closely monitoring Patterson after being impressed by his recent displays for Villa Under-23s.

Scouts have recommended Patterson to the club’s hierarchy and Spurs could weigh up a summer move.

The youngster's talents have also been recognised at the international level, with the defender earning five caps for England's Under-17s.

Patterson made his Under-18 breakthrough at Villa Park last season but has already progressed to Under-23 football as he continues his rapid development.

The starlet has made six starts in Premier League 2 competition this season.

The left-back is the latest in a string of impressive talents emerging from the youth set-up at Aston Villa.

Jacob Ramsey, 20, has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough this term - scoring six Premier League goals.

Jaden Philogene-Bidace, Cameron Archer, and Carney Chukwuemeka have also impressed in limited outings for the Villa Park side.

Joining the Tottenham setup would represent an upgrade for Patterson, with the Lilywhites Under-23 side sitting midtable in Premier League 2's Group 1.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa's Under-23 outfit are ninth in Group 2.

Tottenham

Steven Gerrard's side sit 15th in the Premier League - some 21 points adrift of Tottenham.

Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon are the first-choice left-backs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
