Tottenham are preparing to make a bid for Michy Batshuayi following Crystal Palace's stunning £31.7million offer on Monday, Football Insider sources understand.

Spurs have not yet submitted an offer for the Marseille striker but are expected to be stung into action following formal offers from West Ham, Juventus and Palace.

A well-placed Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the club are prepared to make a club-record offer to blow their rivals out of the water and land Batshuayi.

They have been reluctant to pay a combination of the £32million asking price and Batshuayi's £100,000-a-week salary demands.

But the north Londoners remain keen on landing the Belgium international and have held lengthy talks with Marseille about a deal.

Spurs chiefs are convinced that Batshuayi would prefer to move to White Hart Lane than any of the other clubs bidding for him and believe they can use this in leverage with the French club and the player.

French publication L'Equipe claim Palace tabled an offer on Monday for the Belgium striker of £31.7million plus top-up bonuses.

It is said Marseille have agreed the fee, and a deal which also includes a sell-on clause, but the player has not yet given the green light to the transfer.

Batshuayi revealed last month that he was keen on a move to the Premier League, and Spurs are confident the possibility of Champions League football gives them the edge over West Ham and Palace.

L'Equipe claimed at the end of last week that the Hammers were about to submit an offer to Marseille of £28.5million plus £4million of add-ons to win the race for Batshuayi.

By contrast, Juventus tabled a bid worth £28.5million for the Belgium international last Thursday, with the offer worth £26.1million up front plus £2.4million of add-ons.

But Palace have attempted to beat their London rivals and the Italian champions to the punch by launching a bid that would shatter the club's transfer record, which was the £10million they spent on Yohan Cabaye last summer.

Batshuayi, who is currently at Euro 2016 with the Belgium squad, scored 24 goals and supplied 10 assists in 51 matches in all competitions for Marseille this season, including 17 goals and nine assists from 36 Ligue 1 encounters.
