Tottenham will not sanction an exit for midfield sta rPierre-Emile Hojbjerg before signing a replacement, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the Denmark international will bring in a fee well in excess of £25million.

However, Spurs will have to look for alternative options as the 26-year-old puts the finishing touches on a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Hojbjerg has racked up 145 appearances for Spurs since joining from Southampton in 2020 – notching 10 goals and 16 assists.

His contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which nets him a reported wage of £100,000-a-week, is set to expire in June 2025.

The former Bayern Munich star could leave Ange Postecoglou's side short in midfield with the new season just around the corner.

Standout ace Rodrigo Bentancur remains out with a serious knee injury, meaning Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, Tanguy Ndombele and Oliver Skipp will compete for a place in Postecoglou's new-look midfield.

Spurs are close to making their eighth signing of the summer window.

Ashley Phillips has just joined from Blackburn, while centre-back Micky van de Ven and striker Alejo Veliz are set to put pen to paper at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Postecoglou's side start their new season against Brentford next Sunday (13 August).
