USA international George Bello is in talks with both Swansea and Watford over a free transfer move, sources have told Football Insider.

Watford have held a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old left-back and are eager to complete a move for him this summer.

Bello came close to signing for Rangers in January 2021 but instead moved to then-Bundesliga outfit Arminia Bielefeld.

The German club have since slumped to the third tier of German football following back-to-back relegations, which has opened the door for Bello to leave.

Football Insider understands that there is a clause in Bello's contract that now allows the player once purchased for £1.8million to walk out on a free transfer.

News of Bello's availability has alerted a number of clubs, including Swansea, Watford and Dutch champions Feyenoord.

Bello made 25 appearances across all competitions for Arminia Bielefeld this season, including in both legs of their relegation play-off match against Wehen Wiesbaden.

He has primarily deployed at left-back for the side but has also shown his versatility by playing further forward as a left midfielder.

Bello has regularly been limited to a substitute role in 2022/23, with just 979 minutes of first-team action throughout the campaign.

Bello first made a name for himself in America, starting his career at Atlanta United in 2018.

He spent three seasons in the MLS with Atlanta, making a total of 59 appearances for the side and scoring three goals.
