Sources: West Brom braced for Leeds United approach for Carlos Corberan
West Brom are braced for an approach from Leeds United for manager Carlos Corberan, sources have told Football Insider.
The 40-year-old previously worked as a coach at Elland Road alongside Marcelo Bielsa following an impressive stint with the Whites' Under-23 side.
Corberan was in the running to succeed Jesse Marsch following his sacking in February and it is believed the Spaniard is on Leeds' radar once again following their relegation to the Championship.
Football Insider revealed on 8 February that he pulled out of the running to succeed Marsch as manager after only being offered an 18-month contract.
Corberan knocked back advances from Leeds and instead decided to sign a new and improved West Brom deal running until 2027.
He oversaw an impressive turnaround at The Hawthorns after taking over with the Baggies sitting last in the Championship.
The Spaniard won 16 of a possible 30 league games to steer the Midlands side to an eighth-place finish.
However, Corberan's work has been marred by a backdrop of financial issues at West Brom - throwing his long-term future into doubt.
Chief executive Ron Gourlay has resigned from his post amid reports suggesting the Baggies will have to sell their top assets this summer.
Meanwhile, Leeds confirmed on Friday (2 June) that manager Sam Allardyce will not see his contract renewed after taking charge of the final four games of the season.
The Whites are preparing to return to the Championship for the first time since winning promotion to the Premier League in the 2019-20 campaign.
