Sources: West Brom in advanced talks with Carlos Corberan as agreement close
Carlos Corberan is in advanced talks with West Brom over the vacant manager's job, sources have told Football Insider.
The former Huddersfield Town boss, 39, has been out of work since leaving Olympiacos last month (18 September) but is now close to returning to English football.
Sources tell us that a deal is currently on course to be agreed by Tuesday (25 October).
Efforts to appoint a successor to Steve Bruce have been ramped up by West Brom while Richard Beale remains in temporary charge.
Beale has lost two of the three games he has overseen and Saturday's (22 October) 2-1 defeat to Millwall has left the Baggies three points from safety and second bottom of the Championship.
The club have moved for Corberan after he guided Huddersfield to the Championship play-off final last season before quitting the club in the summer to take over at Olympiacos.
The Greek club is owned by Evangelos Marinakis who also owns Nottingham Forest - the club that beat Huddersfield at Wembley last season.
Huddersfield finished 20th in Corberan's first season in charge before climbing the table to third last term and West Brom will be hoping he can repeat the trick at the Hawthorns.
Sources told this site earlier this week (20 October) that Jody Morris also held talks with the club over potentially replacing Bruce.
Wigan Athletic boss Leam Richardson was also on their radar before they plumped for Corberan.
It is likely that next weekend's (29 October) visit of high-flying Sheffield United will be the Spaniard's first game in charge.
