West Ham have made an approach to assess the availability of Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, Football Insider understands.

The Hammers are in the market for attacking midfield reinforcements and the England international, 27, is a target after slipping down the Anfield pecking order.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider the club have made third-party contact over the possibility of signing Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It is believed that Liverpool are willing to listen to offers for a player who has had just 277 minutes of action all season.

The Merseysiders value Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has three years left on his contract, at around the £22million mark.

West Ham are looking at alternatives to Man United loan star Jesse Lingard, who is attracting interest across the Premier League following his outstanding few months.

Jurgen Klopp has claimed he has full faith in the £35m signing from Arsenal but has barely used him during what has been an extremely difficult campaign for the team.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is said to be Klopp to have been "training well", although he has not made the squad for the last two Premier League matches.

The Southampton academy product has made just two Premier League starts among 15 appearances in all competitions despite the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita missing big chunks of the campaign due to injury.

He has made 102 appearances in four seasons at Liverpool, which have yielded 13 goals and 11 assists.
