Stan Collymore is convinced that Rangers will compete with rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Celtic are aiming for their sixth consecutive league title in the upcoming campaign after five triumphs in a row.

But they will face a tougher test as they will come up against their Glasgow rivals in the same division following Rangers' four-year spell in the lower divisions.

New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is pitted against Mark Warburton, who is at the Ibrox helm for a second season after guiding them to the Championship title and promotion in his first campaign.

Asked for his verdict by a supporter on Twitter whether he thought Rangers could compete with Celtic for the title, broadcaster Collymore was optimistic of a genuine challenge from the Gers.

The former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest striker also backed Warburton as a "worthy adversary" in the dugout to former Liverpool manager Rangers.
