Kobbie Mainoo has been consistently linked with a move away from Manchester United in recent months.

Man United faced a challenging start to the season but are currently on a five-game unbeaten run as they look to quality for Europe.

However, Mainoo has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford this season, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and Mason Mount featuring more consistently in midfield for Ruben Amorim's side.

Man United are reluctant to sell Mainoo, but there is expected to be interest in the 20-year-old again once the January transfer window opens.

The England international has failed to start in any of his seven Premier League appearances at the beginning of this season.

Kobbie Mainoo's valuation revealed after Man United exit latest

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Mainoo’s value is unlikely to fall below £40million despite his lack of opportunities this season.

Fellow Man United academy graduate Alejandro Garnacho joined Chelsea in a deal worth around £40m over the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about whether Mainoo’s valuation could drop, Borson said: “I mean, we know that we saw it with players like Garnacho.

“He’s slightly different in that there was a perceived attitude issue, but once the player's not playing, you've then got the issue of how many other clubs are interested in him in a competitive sense in the transfer market.

“These things all go to value, but I think if he's not playing, then it's harder to justify a very high valuation for him.”

Mainoo has featured 80 times for Man United since making his first-team debut in January 2023, registering seven goals and three assists along the way.

Club could 'take a punt' on Kobbie Mainoo

Borson expects one of the interested parties will “take a punt” on Mainoo if he’s made available by Man United.

“I think the perceived value of Mainoo will probably not fall much below £40m let's say for a player of his age and potential,” said Borson.

“I suspect somebody would take a punt on him, maybe after a loan period, but I think it's likely that somebody would look at him for that sort of fee.”

Mainoo missed Man United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham last time out, while Amorim is now preparing his side to face Everton on Monday (24 November).
