Carlton Cole has revealed he is training with West Ham until January while he searches for a new club.

The 33-year-old striker is currently a free agent after leaving third-tier American side Sacramento Republic last month after making just four appearances.

Cole made 293 appearances for the Hammers in two separate stints with the club over nine years, scoring 68 goals in the process.

The former England international has said he is delighted to be back at the London club's training headquarters.

“It is nice to be back at West Ham and I am just trying to keep myself fit. It is the end of the season in America and I want to keep ticking over and plan to be here for a couple of months,” said Cole to the official West Ham

“The gaffer has allowed me to stay over and use the facilities and train with the team until January.”

Cole started his professional career with Chelsea in 2001, making just 12 appearances and being loaned out by the Blues on three separate occasions, before being sold on to West Ham in 2006 for an undisclosed fee.

Upon leaving the Hammers last year, Cole signed for Celtic on a two-year deal, but was released after just eight months.

The Hammers face Stoke on Saturday, as they look to move further away from the Premier League relegation zone with a win.
