England's chances of winning the World Cup have received a huge boost after they famously beat Mexico 3-2 at the Azteca on Monday to reach the quarter-final.

Goals from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane won an action-packed game for Thomas Tuchel's side, with Jarell Quansah sent off early into the second half.

The Three Lions will take on Norway in Miami next, after they defeated one of the favourites, Brazil, 2-1 on Sunday.

Should England win that game, they will play one of Argentina, Egypt, Switzerland or Colombia in a potential semi-final.

It has been a World Cup of few upsets so far, but recent days have begun to see some giants fall.

Brazil's exit was undoubtedly a shock and the same can be said of Germany, who were beaten on penalties by Paraguay in the round of 32.

Supercomputer makes France overwhelming favourites

England are likely happy not being the overall favourites to win the World Cup, with the pressure already intense.

It almost came to a head in an incredibly intimidating atmosphere on Monday, but Tuchel's team kept their heads remarkably well.

Norway will represent a different challenge, but the Three Lions will be confident of surpassing Stale Solbakken's team.

That is, however, if they can find a way to stop Erling Halaand, who has already scored seven and is in absurdly good form.

Opta's supercomputer has given England a 59.84 per cent chance of getting past the Norwegians, and a 16.53 per cent chance of winning the whole thing.

That number has almost doubled in the past week, but France remain the major favourites.

Didier Deschamps' side have been given a 30.70 per cent chance of repeating their 2018 feat and adding a third World Cup to their history.

Who are the other favourites?

One potential favourite will be eliminated on Monday when Portugal meet Spain, with the European champions the favourites to win that tie.

Belgium could also go out on Tuesday to the United States, with Argentina will be expected to surpass Egypt.

Having got past Brazil, Norway now find themselves the fourth-favourite to win the whole thing.

Argentina narrowly trail England, with a 14.83 per cent chance of retaining the World Cup.
