Celtic confirmed that centre-back Erik Sviatchenko has departed on a four-year deal back to former club FC Midtjylland and the majority of fans are gutted by the news.

The 26-year-old had returned to FC Midtjylland on loan in January after falling out with Brendan Rodgers, and now he's signed a four-year deal that will take him through to 2022.

The news was confirmed by Celtic on Sunday night after a tweet from the Danish club.

However, Celtic fans are not happy with the news, with one fan saying he can't understand why Sviatchenko is going and Dedryck Boyata is staying.

Other fans said they were gutted and wished the big man all the best for his future.

According to the Daily Record, Celtic have secured a fee of £1million for Sviatchenko after signing him for £2.25million back in January 2016.

Judging from fans' reactions though, they would have preferred to keep hold of him.
