'That's the problem' - Exclusive: Hutton warns Aston Villa ace about 'winning mentality'

Alan Hutton warned Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi that having a winning mentality is only a problem if you don't know where the line is. 

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O'Leary, the former Aston Villa right-back who left the club in the summer after eight-years shared that El Ghazi was the type of player to get frustrated.

Hutton explained that El Ghazi has a winning mentality, similar to himself, and that his frustration is a result of him always wanting to do well even when nothing is at stake.

Hutton commented on what El Ghazi was like behind-the-scenes following his on-pitch row with Tyrone Mings during the 0-0 draw with West Ham, which saw the winger butt heads with his Villans teammate.

When asked what El Ghazi is like in training, Hutton told Football Insider: "He's a winner, he wants to win, he wants to do well always and that's including in training.

"People gets frustrated obviously, whether it be a tackle or whatever it may be, but I think that's in his makeup.

"I was a bit like that myself, I wanted to be winning everything and I kind of lost my head if I didn't get a foul or whatever, it's just a winning mentality.

"To be honest, I don't think it's a bad thing to have as long as you know where the line is, that's the problem."

The Dutch attacker was signed by Villa from Lille in the summer of 2018 on a loan-to-buy deal that became permanent in the latest transfer window.

The 24-year-old has featured five times for Dean Smith's side this season across all competitions and has racked up one goal as well as one assist in the process.
