Brendan Rodgers must bring a new central defender to Celtic before the end of the transfer window and Wolves captain Danny Batth should be at the top of his shortlist.

The Daily Mail claims the 26-year-old defender is interesting Championship big hitters Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa with his future at Molineux in doubt.

It is said that the Championship expert could leave the club this summer after Wolves brought in Willy Boly from Porto on loan and Roderick Miranda from Rio Ave.

Making 41 appearances in the Championship last season, the former Sheffield Wednesday ace scored four goals and played a crucial part in helping the Midlands outfit avoid relegation.

With three years remaining on his contract, it remains to be seen how much Batth would cost but it seems clear that his future may not be at Wolves anymore.

Football Insider examines three ways in which Rodgers would solve one of his biggest dilemmas at Celtic with the signing of defender Batth, including a defender that has revealed other clubs' interest through his agent:

Championship talent spotting

Rodgers has already completed a handful of signings from England's second division, with Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele thriving in the green and white of Celtic since moving north from the Championship.

With the former Liverpool boss being confident that the best of the Championship can thrive in Scotland, Batth must be considered as his next raid on the division.

The defender is known for his ability on the ball and willingness to put his body on the line and that mix of quality as well as determination would serve him well in Glasgow.

Ajer could get exposed

Ajer, 19, has seemingly broken into the Celtic side after picking up the man of the match award for his display in the 0-0 draw against Rosenborg on Wednesday.

Starring in the 5-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday, the Norwegian teen is now pushing to be a regular in Rodgers' side.

However, if Celtic do qualify for the Champions League, his inexperience could cost the Hoops dearly and another season on the fringes may do him the world of good.

Sviatchenko set to leave?

Erik Sviatchenko's agent revealed earlier this month that his client was attracting interest from Turkish giants Besiktas, while English clubs are also keen.

Celtic would be left with just Ajer, Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata with the latter suffering a long-term knee injury in a friendly against Slavia Prague.

Signing Batth would not only give the 48-time Scottish champions plenty of quality at centre-back, but also cover that is much needed.
