COMMENT

Leeds fans would have been dreaming that these final two games of the season would be packed with excitement as their side battled for a play-off place.

The reality couldn't be any further from that as they had to watch two teams playing for pride at Carrow Road. And neither side had much.

Both Leeds and Norwich have under-performed this season, but it's Whites fans who have the right to be outraged after they topped the table at the start of the season.

That literally seems like a different time now and while there's a new manager in the dugout, it's fair to say that he's even less popular than Thomas Christiansen. He's certainly got a worse record.

Leeds did take the lead today, with a rare Kalvin Phillips goal, but the scrappy equaliser they conceded just before half-time sums up their season. And it's not good. And it got worse in the second half as they went down 2-1 in a dire game.

However there were some big talking points that erupted today from Carrow Road.

Join us as Football Insider considers three talking points from Leeds' draw, including one senior player who cannot be trusted and should be binned ahead of the last game of the season.

Game needed a spark but it never made the bench

Leeds took the unusual step of announcing that 16-year-old striker Ryan Edmondson was travelling with the Leeds team for Saturday's game. And then he didn't even make the bench. That led to groans all round from Leeds fans who were keen to see him play and prove he has what it takes to make the first team next season. he might be young, but so what? He would have created a ripple of excitement and what exactly are Leeds playing for that's so important now anyway?

Samu Saiz is about to say see ya'

Samu Saiz was on course to be the next Leeds hero when he arrived to a spectacular start at Elland Road. He looked every inch a player who could fire Leeds to promotion but, as their season has faltered, so has Saiz. He was as poor and spineless today as he has been for the past few weeks, and we can only surmise that he has no interest in playing for the club anymore and that he'll be off in the summer. Either that or he's not as good as we thought he was. However, even if he is, Leeds don't need someone that blows hot and cold, but someone with passion all the way through. It's a shame he didn't work out but Leeds need better. And Heck shouldn't give him the privilege of playing in the last game if he is off. Bin him and play someone that wants to perform.

Heckingbottom is fighting for his life

Heckingbottom is normally good at batting questions off harmlessly, but when asked about his future at Leeds at the pre-match press conference he slipped, saying the last two games were important for him. But if Leeds are going to sack him in the summer then they might have been better off pulling the trigger now. Because needing two wins from two games can be the only reason why Heckingbottom would take young striker Ryan Edmondson up to Norwich and then not even put him on the bench. Heckingbottom might want to experiment but it seems his hands are tied and he's relying on his tried and tested stars to keep him at Elland Road. The trouble is, it's these tried and tested stars that have got Heckingbottom in trouble in the first place. This result could have just sealed his coffin shut.
