Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy after he was voted onto the European Club Association board.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one, who holds Levy in “very high regard” from his personal dealings with him, said the appointment says a lot about Levy’s standing in the Premier League.

As confirmed on September 7th, Levy has been voted onto the executive board of the ECA ahead of Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano.

It comes as Ed Woodward, who previously held the role, steps down from his influential position as chief executive of Manchester United.

English giants Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all reportedly backed Levy for for the role.

When asked by Football Insider's Dylan Childs for his thoughts on the appointment, Robinson said:

“That comes from people that have dealt with him in business situations for a number of years now.

"I know Daniel and I hold him in very high regard from the dealings I have had with him.

"He has done an excellent job at Tottenham Hotspur and he has always had the best interest of the club at heart. He does what he thinks is right for the club.

"If you look at the stadium, the training ground and the infrastructure you can see the forward planning. What he has done is nothing short of incredible.

"Yes, at times he has been criticised but all chairmans are at times. They haven’t won a trophy for too long but the progression is there. Everything has been put in place for that club. You cannot criticise him.

"To have the recognition of his peers in the Premier League tells you an awful lot about the way he conducts his business.”
