Paul Robinson has tipped Djed Spence to exit Tottenham before the end of the January window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said "there is more to come out in the wash" about Spence's failure to break into Antonio Conte's plan.

Spence has been limited to a handful of substitute appearances since joining Tottenham from Middlesbrough in the summer.

Tottenham

According to ESPN (6 January), four Premier League clubs are interested in signing the 22-year-old on loan.

Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be keeping tabs on the situation.

When asked by Football Insider if it was best for all parties that Spence left this month, Robinson said: "It is just not worked for whatever reason.

"I'm sure there is more to come out in the wash as to why it has not worked.

"He has not been given a proper opportunity by the manager. Perhaps that was an issue between him and Conte. The move has not worked for club or player.

Tottenham

"I expected him to start in the FA Cup at the weekend but Emerson Royal started instead.

"I cannot see how it is going to be resolved. It is not right. A move is inevitable now because it sounds like the manager is going to sign a right wing-back this month. It seems logical that he would move on."
