Tottenham fans have been left raging at referee Jarred Gillet after Arsenal star Jurrien Timber avoided a second yellow card for a confrontation with Guglielmo Vicario.

Ange Postecoglou's side were frustrated by a 1-0 defeat against their North London rivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after a goal from Gabriel decided it.

However, the game was not without plenty of controversy, and Timber was at the centre of it after tempers flared shortly before half-time.

The Arsenal defender saw a yellow card given for a challenge which was assessed by VAR, shortly before both sides clashed with pushing and shoving all around.

Tottenham's goalkeeper emerged from the crowd with a yellow card, with his shove on Timber the catalyst for the players kicking off.

However, a new angle has shown Timber grabbing hold of Vicario's shirt during the incident, and Spurs fans are insisting he should have seen a second yellow immediately after his first.

Many insisted the Arsenal defender should have seen red for his initial challenge as his studs rolled over the ball and into Pedro Porro.

However, once the incident was cleared by VAR, new claims emerged that he should have received a second yellow alongside Vicario for sparking the confrontation between both teams.

Tottenham fans took to social media during the clash to express their frustrations, with the refereeing team labelled "corrupt" and "incompetent".
