Tottenham fans have urged club chiefs to secure Toby Alderweireld to a new contract after his agent raised the prospect he could quit.

Stijn Francis, who advises the Belgium international along with his father Vic, delivered the bombshell in the wake of the summer transfer window that Spurs should sell Alderweireld if they are not willing to offer him the contract he deserves.

Francis insisted that Alderweireld is wanted by eight top clubs across the globe as a result of his outstanding form since joining Tottenham in the summer of 2015 from Atletico Madrid.

Spurs fans are concerned about the prospect of losing the 28-year-old and have taken to social media urging the club to offer him the money he wants in order to sign a new deal.

It has been widely reported that talks between Alderweireld and Spurs over a new contract this summer have hit a stalemate and there is no sign of an agreement.

Alderweireld is said to be holding out for a massive upgrade on his current £50,000-a-week contract, which has two more years remaining plus an option for a further 12 months.
