Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express their despair at reports that Mousa Dembele is in line to quit the club this summer.

The Independent claim the Spurs midfield kingpin is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, when he will have just 12 months remaining on his contract.

It is said that Dembele, who turns 31 in July, is "interested" in trying a new league and his most likely destination is set to be China.

The Independent report that Dembele is coming to the realisation that the physical demands of playing in the Premier League after eight seasons in English football is too much and "mean that it is time to leave".

The Belgian is also attracted by the possibility of a lucrative contract in China, where the demands on his body will not be comparable with the English top flight.

Spurs supporters are in uproar at the possibility of losing the huge popular Dembele, with comments including "if we sell him we riot" and "I vote no".
