Tottenham fans have torn into Destiny Udogie after the role he played in their Premier League defeat v Brighton at the Amex.

Ange Postecoglou's side threw away a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time to lose 3-2 after goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison were cancelled out by Yankuba Minteh, Georginio Rutter and Danny Welbeck.

While no member of the starting XI or substitutes escaped the criticism of the travelling fans, their attention was immediately drawn to the left-back.

Udogie, 21, was at fault for Brighton's first goal after his scuffed clearance fell to the feet of Minteh who was given time to fire his shot into the bottom corner.

An early second-half goal after just 48 minutes kickstarted the Seagulls' comeback, and Spurs never looked to regain their confidence following the defensive error.

Spurs hero Dimitar Berbatov was also highly critical of Udogie live on Sky Sports as he shared: "I think it's a rookie mistake. With the number of games he has under his belt, he should do better than this.

"You're a defender, first and foremost, so you need to defend. It's about reading the game. You need to anticipate and you need to be ready, no matter what."

Tottenham fans explode at Destiny Udogie after Brighton defeat

Tottenham fans had been hopeful of following their impressive 3-0 victory at Old Trafford last time out with another emphatic win on the road.

However, as they led 2-0 at half-time, it looked like they were in control of the game and could push for more goals to extend their lead - before throwing it away in a disastrous second half.

Following the game, fans took to social media as they labelled Udogie "disgraceful" and "horrific" as the travelling supporters were left raging once more.
