Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to annihilate Moussa Sissoko for his performance in the 1-0 win against Newcastle United at Wembley on Thursday.

Sissoko, 28, was picked to start just his second Premier League game since January due to Mousa Dembele's injury and Eric Dier's illness - however fans were left baffled by Mauricio Pochettino's decision to call on the Frenchman, who had a real stinker against the Magpies.

The midfielder had every touch jeered by the travelling Newcastle fans, who surely must be realising how lucky there were to have sold the player to Spurs in a deal worth £30million in 2016.

Sissoko has barely put in a good shift for Tottenham since signing, and it seems that fans felt the same way about his performance on Wednesday night.

One angry Spurs fan even claimed that the France international was "garbage" when playing against his former side.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Sissoko has made 46 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham this season, although the bulk of them have come off the bench with him earning just 14 Premier League starts.

He scored his first and second goals for the club when he found the net in a win against Huddersfield and defeat to West Ham, but that really has been it in terms of highlights for the ex-Newcastle player.
