Daniel Levy will continue to pander to Tottenham fans to regain their trust - but the only way he can win them over is through "genuine and sustained investment."

That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after the chairman promised to bring "attacking and entertaining" football back to Spurs.

In an end-of-season letter to fans, Levy committed the club to return to "key priorities and what's truly in our DNA."

Towards that end, Spurs have moved to re-appoint Mauricio Pochettino as manager, as first reported by the Athletic.

The relationship between the club's powerbrokers and supporters has soured since the botched European Super League breakaway plot.

And Maguire claims that Levy's rhetoric is a ham-fisted attempt to re-ingratiate himself with a disenfranchised fanbase.

"This is a classic case of talk is cheap," he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

"Until Spurs fans see genuine and sustained investment on the pitch, they will be very cautious in terms of believing in Daniel Levy at this moment in time.

"Of course, he would say that, wouldn't he? No club owner is going to say: 'We're going to park the bus.'

"The Super League has just absolutely destroyed the bonds of trust between the fans and the people running the club at Tottenham."
