Thierry Henry has urged Tottenham to keep hold of their best players and to continue to put their faith in manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The former Arsenal striker believes that Tottenham have been guilty of self-inflicted problems in the past, by selling off their prized assets and operating a revolving door managerial policy at White Hart Lane.

Henry believes it is the movement away from this culture at the club that has led to Tottenham's remarkable season and has hailed Spurs for demonstrating some long over due ambition.

The sense of a club on the rise was heightened on Friday when Pochettino revaled he has agreed a new five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2021.

"For as long as I can remember, Spurs' biggest problem has been a lack of consistency," said Henry writing in his Sun column. "Not just in their results on the pitch but also in their philosophy and their recruitment policy.

"Every couple of years they would sell their best players, change their manager and start building from scratch all over again.

"But since Poch joined two years ago they have finally focused on what they must do, rather than worry about the team down the road.

"I've been so impressed by Pochettino. Like fellow Argentine Diego Simeone, he's a fighter who has brought real belief to his club."

Pochettino is unlikely to lead his young Spurs side to the Premier League title this season with league leaders Leicester needing just one more win to claim the trophy from their three remaining matches.

Nevertheless, Henry is convinced the Argentine's influence will result in another title charge next campaign.
