Trevoh Chalobah has sent a fervent message to a former Chelsea teammate after the player moved on deadline day.

The Blues held on this summer to Chalobah after Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill suffered a major injury, despite interest from Crystal Palace.

The 26-year-old has started every game in the Premier League this season on top of Chalobah scoring a goal in Chelsea's 5-1 win over West Ham in the second match of the campaign.

However, as has become customary at Stamford Bridge, the Englishman has had to say goodbye to former Chelsea teammate Ben Chilwell who joined Strasbourg on deadline day.

During his time in west London, the former Leicester left-back won his first-ever trophy in the 2020-21 season, claiming the UEFA Champions League.

The England international was part of the team that beat English rivals Man City in Porto in a memorable moment for the Blues.

Chalobah took to Instagram stories (3 September) to wish Chilwell all the best with a post captioned: "Made history brother", referring to the 28-year-old's European plaudits.

The centre-back reposted the former Fox's goodbye post to Chelsea fans after five seasons at the club.

Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell to make surprise bids for England World Cup squad

Football Insider verdict

The move by Chilwell to join Strasbourg will hopefully offer him the opportunity to play regularly after stop-start spells at Stamford Bridge.

The Englishman had spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on-loan at Crystal Palace but did little to grab the attention of Oliver Glasner.

Moving to France could open up the shock possibility of the 28-year-old making a comeback in the England set-up, particularly given the historic lack of left-back options.

For Chalobah, the 26-year-old made his debut for the national team in June 2025 and will be pushing to be on the plane to the World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel will definitely take notice of the number 27's perseverance and motivation after several loan spells to propel himself into the Chelsea starting XI.

Enzo Maresca's go-to centre-back will almost certainly be in the top 10 options for the German and, if he maintains his early season form, could force his way into the World Cup team.
