West Ham will held fresh talks with Joe Cole about joining the club's coaching staff and a decision is expected by the end of this week, Football Insider can reveal.

Manager David Moyes admitted last week he was exploring the possibility of adding the former Hammers playmaker, 38, to his backroom staff.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider the club hierarchy are planning further discussions with Cole about the role and are ready to present an offer to him if he is keen.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed nine days ago that West Ham had opened talks with Cole over a possible coaching role.

This was subsequently corroborated by Moyes, although Cole himself flat batted the issue when asked about it by anchor Jake Humphrey while on punditry duty for BT Sport at the weekend.

Moyes is keen to take on the former England star about failing in a bid to entice Stuart Pearce back to the London Stadium to work alongside him.

The Premier League club are convinced Cole has a lot to offer and could make a big impact behind the scenes to improve their players.

The former Hammer must decide whether the timing is right for him to abandon his punditry duties and take on what would be a high-profile coaching role.

Moyes has so far appointed only Alan Irvine on to his backroom staff, which also includes Xavi Valero, the goalkeeper coach who worked under Manuel Pellegrini.

Cole graduated from the West Ham academy to make 175 appearances in claret-and-blue across two spells.
