Andre Villas-Boas is now the second favourite to become Celtic's permanent manager, according to the latest bookmakers' odds.

Sky Bet have installed the Portuguese second only behind interim boss Neil Lennon on odds of just 3/1 after a flood of bets from punters.

Lennon (11/10) is currently in charge of the Hoops until the end of the season and is the favourite to succeed Brendan Rodgers ahead of Villas-Boas, Roberto Martinez (4/1), Rafael Benitez (8/1) and David Moyes (10/1).

This is an intriguing shift in the odds. Lennon was thought by many to be nailed-on to replace Rodgers permanently, but that's not how the bookies see it. The Northern Irishman, back at Parkhead for a second spell, is the favourite, sure, but he is not odds-on, as might have been expected. Villas-Boas has a CV packed with some stellar clubs, including Chelsea, Tottenham, Zenit St Petersburg and Porto, and has done better than his critics might have you think, winning league titles in Portugal and Russia, and has gone down in history as the youngest manager to win a European trophy - the Europa League at Porto at the ridiculously precocious age of 33. Villas-Boas' star has fallen a little after spells at Chelsea and Spurs ended with the sack, and he has not worked at a club for 18 months since quitting Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG. But, he has serious coaching pedigree and is still youthful - he is 41 - in management terms.
