West Ham have registered their interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja, Football Insider understands.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that Broja remains a top target for the club this summer as they continue to plan for a centre-forward signing.

There are other names on the list of recruitment chief Rob Newman and manager David Moyes as they line up multiple back-up options.

But Broja figures prominently among those Irons chiefs most want to provide cover and competition for Michail Antonio next season.

Newman personally ran the rule over Broja on many occasions in 2021-22 and was spotted in attendance at St Mary's Stadium in January as Broja scored in Southampton's 4-1 Premier League win over Brentford.

Moyes is also a big admirer of the forward's pace, mobility and eye for goal, and believes he has huge potential to develop.

West Ham are set to test the resolve of parent club Chelsea amid uncertainty over whether he is part of their long-term plans.

There is increasingly strong competition for the rising star's services, with other Premier League clubs also watching him closely.

Broja scored nine goals from 38 matches in all competitions for the Saints in 2021-22, six of which came in the Premier League.

He has a contract at Chelsea, signed in July of last year, that runs until the summer of 2026.
