West Ham could face financial issues in the future following their heavy spending throughout the summer transfer window.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the east London club will probably look to sell players before the 30 August transfer deadline.

West Ham have made eight new signings so far this summer after Julen Lopetegui was appointed as David Moyes’s successor at the London Stadium.

The latest deal saw defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka join the club for £15million from Manchester United, taking their overall spending to more than £120million since the window opened.

West Ham are looking to offload former captain Kurt Zouma to help reduce the wage bill, but his move to United Arab Emirates side Shabab Al-Ahli collapsed after he failed a medical.

West Ham unlikely to face PSR issues despite heavy spending

But Borson believes the East Londoners are still unlikely to face any profit and sustainability (PSR) issues despite their summer spending spree.

He told Football Insider“When you have spent what they have spent this summer, you do build yourselves up to have some issues going forward because you increase your levels of player amortisation quite dramatically.

“You would presume their wage bill has also gone up quite a bit.

“A deal they were hoping to get Kurt Zouma off the wage bill to Dubai seems to have collapsed.

“He’s on a chunky amount of money.

“I think they will look to sell this month, but I don’t think they have got any PSR issues.”
