West Ham are plotting a January move for Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton Diaz, sources have told Football Insider.

The Londoners have been keeping close tabs on the forward, 23, in recent months and their scouts watched him in action once again in Saturday's 1-0 Championship win over Huddersfield Town.

Diaz, 23, scored the winning goal with his ninth Championship strike of the season to continue his excellent form from last term.

Irons manager David Moyes is believed to be a huge admirer of the Chile international and had made it clear to the club's scouts he is interested in luring the forward in January.

Diaz is seen as a versatile attacker who can thrive in multiple positions, including at centre-forward, on both flanks and behind the striker.

Sevilla were in pole position to sign Diaz with new boss Jorge Sampaoli planning to place him at the heart of a rebuilding job in the winter transfer window.

But there is strong interest from Premier League clubs, in addition to West Ham.

Everton and Fulham submitted offers for Diaz at the end of the window but Blackburn rejected them, and Football Insider revealed (3 September) that Leeds are also planning to explore a deal for the forward in January.

Diaz is out of contract at Blackburn next summer and is free to open talks in January over a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs.

It is believed he is open to the possibility of moving abroad and playing in Spain.

Diaz has made it clear he will not sign a new Blackburn contract after rebuffing their multiple attempts to extend his deal beyond the summer of 2023.
