West Ham fans are convinced Julen Lopetegui will be "sacked by Christmas" after their heavy Carabao Cup defeat v Liverpool at Anfield.

Lopetegui's men were knocked out of the League Cup in the third round after a convincing 5-1 defeat away from home after goals from Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

West Ham's only goal came courtesy of a Jarell Quansah own-goal, as their terrible run of form continued in the cup.

This comes while the Hammers have endured a difficult start to the season, with just one win in their opening five Premier League games.

Meanwhile, the defeat to Chelsea on 21 September saw West Ham record their worst-ever start to a season, and the first time they have ever lost their first three home games.

With pressure beginning to pile up on Lopetegui, many supporters now believe it is only a matter of time until the newly appointed boss loses his job.

Football Insider revealed on 20 September that the board are keen to stick by the boss despite results, but could be forced to make a decision should results continue in this vein.

Lopetegui was heavily backed in the transfer market after he was chosen to replace David Moyes at the end of last season, adding further pressure to find results.

There have also been claims that the boss has "lost the dressing room" at the London Stadium after recent quotes from captain Jarrod Bowen.

Now, the pressure on Lopetegui's position has risen yet again, with fans taking to social media to express their frustration with his management.
