Wolves are set to pull out of the race to sign former Southampton striker Che Adams, sources have told Football Insider.

The Midlands club have offered a contract to the 27-year-old, but the deal has been on the table for a month and remains unsigned.

Serie A outfit Torino have now entered advanced talks with the striker over making the move to Italy.

Football Insider first revealed interest from Torino on 15 July as the Italian club were pushing hard to reach an agreement.

Adams left Southampton when his contract expired last month, despite the Saints' efforts to keep him, and now looks set for a move abroad.

Adams joined Southampton in a £15million move from Birmingham City five years ago, making 191 appearances for the club before making the decision to walk away.

His role as a key player began to fade last season thanks to the form of Adam Armstrong, as he started just 28 games.

Despite the decrease in play time, he scored 17 goals in 46 appearances, inspiring interest from Wolves who were long-term admirers of the striker.

Gary O'Neill's side first attempted to sign Adams last summer but no deal materialised, and they have now walked away from their interest given the time taken over a deal.

A striker remains on their list of targets, however, as Football Insider revealed they are among clubs tracking the situation of Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah.

A move to Torino would see him become the latest in a trend of Scottish footballers making the move to Serie A, following the likes of Lewis Ferguson and Aaron Hickey.

Ferguson's form for Bologna saw him collect the Midfielder of the Year award last season, and Adams will hope to replicate his international teammate's success.
