Yves Bissouma hints at surprise Tottenham recall in message from dressing room

Thomas Frank could be set to surprisingly welcome Yves Bissouma back into the Tottenham team after his failed summer transfer.

Bissouma is yet to feature for Tottenham this season after Frank left him out of their UEFA Super Cup squad to face PSG last month, citing several incidents of lateness from the 29-year-old midfielder.

Ex-Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Joao Palhinha wasn't signed as a direct replacement for Bissouma following his loan move from Bayern Munich, and the latter has stayed put.

Football Insider revealed on 9 September that Bissouma could still leave Tottenham on loan to Turkey or Saudi Arabia when their transfer windows were still open, but the Mali international remains a Tottenham player despite his fall-out with Frank.

Everton and West Ham each identified Bissouma as a transfer target in the summer, and Football Insider revealed on Monday that both clubs are considering new bids for the Tottenham outcast in January.

Frank has opted to start Palhinha, Pape Sarr and Lucas Bergvall in his midfield and the latter duo both scored in a 3-0 win at West Ham last time out, with Bissouma yet to appear in a single matchday squad.

However, the Mali midfielder posted on Instagram on Monday to show that he's back in the first-team fold at Tottenham, with a photo taken inside one of the changing rooms at their Enfield training ground.

Holding a drink which featured his name and number, Bissouma's message said: "We go again with the best drink ever".

Bissouma may not have been named in Frank's 22-man squad for Spurs' Champions League campaign ahead, but squad depth is something the Dane must value to avoid a similar fate to Ange Postecoglou.

Bissouma has already shared footage of him training alone after Frank's decision to leave him out of their first-team plans this term, but a lack of midfield depth proved to be Tottenham's undoing last season.

Frank could come to regret selling Bissouma in January as Spurs' fixture list piles up, but with plenty of matches between then and now, he has plenty of time to re-integrate Tottenham's number eight back into his side.
