Yves Bissouma may have just been thrown a lifeline when all looked lost for the exit-linked Tottenham midfielder.

There has been a chaotic whirlwind at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, with Igor Tudor being brought in to save Spurs from relegation after Thomas Frank's demise.

Despite the Lilywhites' struggles in the Premier League, they have advanced to the next round of the Champions League, having lost just one of their eight matches.

Of course, Bissouma has played absolutely no part in the European success, with just six league appearances to his name since the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign.

Yves Bissouma was the surprise package vs Arsenal

The 29-year-old midfielder has been a contentious talking point over the last few months, especially after being involved with laughing gas on at least one occasion.

But he appears to have put that behind him against Arsenal, being an unlikely starter in the North London derby on Sunday, 22 February.

It was Tudor's first game in charge since replacing Frank, and having lost 4-1 to Spurs' bitter rivals, it was not the dream start that he would have had in mind, but there were positives.

Despite a lack of minutes this term, Bissouma was one of the only positives to come out of the game, and his underlying statistics from the game speak for themselves.

Igor Tudor may see a bright future for Tottenham midfielder

In 90 minutes, Bissouma completed 81 per cent of his passes, completed four tackles, made four clearances and 10 recoveries, won 71 per cent of his ground duels and won a foul [FotMob].

For a midfielder, that is what fans should be expecting from him every game, and with such key fixtures coming up, he has the perfect chance to prove that he can do exactly that.

With Bissouma out of contract at the end of the season, he is not only playing to help Spurs survive the drop, but also to impress other clubs or earn himself a future in North London.

He could play a key role under Tudor in the remaining games, and while his recent weeks have been shrouded in controversy, there is still hope for the Mali international.
