Chelsea chiefs will review Mauricio Pochettino's position at the club at the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.

While Pochettino is not expected to be sacked mid-season despite Chelsea's ongoing struggles, his medium and long-term future is up in the air.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the 52-year-old's position will depend on whether he can oversee a strong end to the season and there are clear signs that his expensively-assembled team is developing.

Chelsea will review Mauricio Pochettino's position this summer

Ownership group BlueCo, led by American billionaire Todd Boehly, has already sacked two managers since buying the club in May 2022 - Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter - as well as appointing an interim in Frank Lampard for the end of last season.

They are reluctant to dispense with another high-profile boss and will continue to give Pochettino time to change the club's fortunes at Stamford Bridge.

Regardless, his first season has been below the expectations of the board and the fanbase.

Chelsea currently languish in mid-table, seem unlikely to qualify for European competition next season and failed to win the League Cup despite being pitted against an injury-riddled Liverpool side in the final last month.

This, coupled with the club spending a reported £434.5million on transfers last summer, has placed immense pressure on the former Tottenham boss.

Chelsea sit 11th in the Premier League table after two successive draws - most recently against Brentford on Saturday (2 March).

They are next in action against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Monday night (11 March).
