McAvennie: Bitton's Celtic career could be over after footage emerges
Frank McAvennie can’t believe what he saw from Nir Bitton after he picked up another costly red card for Celtic against FC Midtjylland.
The Hoops icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims Celtic fans remain furious with the 29-year-old.
Bitton was handed a second yellow card just before half-time when he poked Anders Dreyer in the head following a coming together in the box between the pair.
Ange Postecolgou’s side were leading at the time of Bitton’s dismissal with the game finishing 1-1 after a howler from Vasilis Barkas.
Bitton will miss the second leg of the Champions League qualifier, which will take place on Wednesday.
The defender was also sent off against Rangers last season and McAvennie can’t believe he’s now made the same mistake twice.

“He did it against Rangers,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“He’s done it again, it’s not on. You can’t do that. I hate all that nonsense. It’s so daft.
“If that was me and my manager, I would be told ‘you simply cannot do this’.
“You can’t lift your hand for any reason. You can’t give the referee a reason.
“His mistake has cost us again, like he did against Rangers.
“Bitton has been given a chance under the new manager and he’s done that, it’s unbelievable. He has work to do to get back in now.
“He’ll say ‘I didn’t touch him’ but it doesn’t matter. Don’t raise your arms or your hands.
“Celtic fans aren’t happy, with the Rangers game as well. That’s twice he’s cost us in big games.”
Bitton joined Celtic in 2013 from Israeli side Ashdod.
He has made 230 appearances during his time at Parkhead.
