McAvennie claims Rangers trio gutted by club's 'really weird' decision for Celtic showdown
Frank McAvennie claims some Rangers players will be gutted there are no Celtic fans heading to Ibrox on Sunday.
The Parkhead icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the Gers’ recent actions.
Sky Sports claim (21 August) around 700 Celtic fans were expected to attend Ibrox for Sunday’s Old Firm game.
However, Rangers have rescinded the offer of tickets after Celtic were unable to guarantee a similar arrangement would be in place for the return fixture.
This means Ange Postecoglou’s side will have no support inside a hostile Ibrox come Sunday lunchtime.
McAvennie insists Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo will be gutted by this development and claimed the lack of Hoops fans will not benefit the home side.

“I don’t think Rangers will benefit from it,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Those players like Kent, Morelos and Aribo will be itching to play in front of Celtic fans.
“It gives you that edge. It’s someone to shut up, to prove wrong, it can give you a bit more.
“I think they will be gutted. Players like that thrive in a big atmosphere.
“It will be loud but it won’t be a good atmosphere, there needs to be some back and forth.
“It’s a really weird decision I really don’t get it but that’s Rangers at the moment.”
Both sides go into this weekend’s Old Firm with two wins from three in the league.
However, Celtic are improving week on week as Rangers struggle to find the form that won them the title last season.
