McAvennie 'feels sorry' for Fashion Sakala after latest Rangers snub
Fashion Sakala’s confidence may have been knocked after failing to start for Rangers against RB Leipzig.
That’s according to former Celtic hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Thursday’s (28 April) game.
Rangers started without a recognised striker against Leipzig with Sakala, 25, on the bench.
Scott Wright led the line to begin with before Joe Aribo took over in the second half.
Sakala only came on with 21 minutes to play as the Gers fell to a late defeat thanks to a stunning Angelino volley.
McAvennie claims the striker may now have no confidence after failing to start despite injuries to Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos.

“He could have no confidence now, that’s just the way it goes though,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Rangers went with a plan, they went to get a draw out of that game.
“Just don’t lose, so they didn’t really play with a striker. That being said, you would think he would get more than 20 minutes.
“I feel sorry for him because you want to play in these big European nights but sometimes that isn’t possible.
“The manager wanted to get a 0-0 and take them back to Ibrox, that hasn’t happened.
“So maybe he will get his chance next week but if Roofe comes back then he will be straight in, it;s a tough one for him.”
Sakala has started 16 times in 44 appearances this season.
Rangers face Celtic on Sunday before welcoming Leipzig to Ibrox next week.
