McAvennie in 'awe' of Postecoglou after witnessing things 'I've never seen before at Celtic'

Frank McAvennie has been blown away by Ange Postecoglou after seeing “things I’ve never seen before” at Celtic.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, sang Postecoglou’s praises after his side booked a cup final clash against Hibernian at the weekend.

Celtic beat St Johnstone 1-0 on Sunday to set up a League Cup final against Hibs on 19 December.

There were wild scenes after the game as Postecoglou thumped the Celtic crest on his jacket to the delight of the travelling fans.

McAvennie can’t believe the turnaround inspired by the Hoops boss and has been blown away by what he’s seen this season.

“The Celtic support are loving him,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’ve never seen that at Celtic, a manager playing with things like inverted wing-backs.

“It’s pretty awesome to see and to see it paying off as well.

“The scenes after we beat St Johnstone were amazing, the fans are properly taken with Ange.

“I’m delighted for him because he’s doing it his way and it’s working.

“He came all the way around the world, which is a huge risk, and after a shaky start he’s getting his ideas across.

“The players love him and he’s building something here. It’s such a breath of fresh air.”

Celtic are next in action against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night.

They then face Aberdeen at Parkhead on Sunday afternoon.

In other news, the Scottish FA have been tipped to ‘take action’ against a senior Celtic man after a controversy.
