McAvennie thrilled as TalkSPORT claim Hart will sign for Celtic today
Frank McAvennie is delighted Celtic are signing Joe Hart but admits he should have been brought in weeks ago.
The Hoops icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to a significant update on their club’s pursuit of Hart.
This morning (3rd August), TalkSPORT reported the Tottenham keeper will sign a three-year deal with Celtic today.
Yesterday (2nd August) A Celtic source told Football Insider that Celtic are trying to lure Hart, 34, with a contract worth more than £35,000-a-week.
This site previously revealed last Saturday (31 July) that Hart is willing to take a pay cut to leave Tottenham for the Glasgow giants.
Vasilis Barkas has had a torrid start to the season and has been heavily criticised by fans and pundits.

McAvennie insists Hart is still a “great” keeper but questioned by he wasn’t signed sooner.
“Hart is a great keeper,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He wasn’t England’s number one for so long for no reason. I’m delighted.
“Having said that, he does have a few mistakes in him. We saw that when he went to Italy.
“It was also happening in his last days at Manchester City.
“He’s a good keeper and Celtic desperately need one, I know he won’t be happy with his defence.
“That needs sorting but everyone knows that but why wasn’t he brought in months ago?
“It’s a good signing but he should have been here at the start of July.”
Hart has made 12 appearances for Spurs after he joined the club last summer.
Before that, he spent time on loan at Torino and West Ham.
