McLeish can't believe 'scary' update in Rangers bid to sign Antonio Colak
The Rangers board must back Giovanni van Bronckhorst if he wants to sign Antonio Colak.
That’s according to former Gers boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s hunt for a new striker.
On 21 June, Sport24 claimed that Rangers have submitted a bid for the 28-year-old striker.
24 hours later, The Daily Record reported Rangers were preparing a second bid as Giovanni van Bronckhorst remains keen on signing the Croatia international.
Colak scored three goals in 23 outings for PAOK during the 2021-22 season, which has left McLeish concerned.
“I spoke all last season about when Giovanni comes in, he has to be able to pick his own players,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild

“I baulked a wee bit at seeing this guy isn’t a prolific goalscorer, that is a wee bit scary.
“Maybe he sees him in a different kind of role, like a goal-maker, there is possibly something else in that.
“He’s 28? He’s not a regular goalscorer. At some stage, the board has to appreciate Gio’s choices and we will see if this guy makes an impact.
“Maybe the guy hasn’t really shown what he can do in the statistics.”
Colak signed for Malmo on loan in March but only managed to score five goals in his 14 outings.
He has played three times for the Croatia national side but is yet to get on the scoresheet for his country.
