McLeish suggests Postecoglou demanding new contract for Celtic star up for free in 2022
Alex McLeish has suggested Ange Postecoglou will be pushing to get Anthony Ralston tied down to a new contract at Celtic.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Australian manager deserves a huge amount of credit for the 22-year-old’s resurgence at Parkhead.
Ralston’s current terms, signed back in 2017, are set to expire next summer.
The Scottish Sun claim Bhoys triggered extension clause earlier this year to keep tied down at Parkhead for this season.
Ralston has emerged as a favourite of Postecoglou’s this season, having struggled for game time last term.
McLeish hailed the new Parkhead boss for the youngster’s impressive turnaround.

He suggested the 56-year-old would be keen to get Ralston tied down to new terms.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think the manager, Postecoglou, he should be the guy who gets the credit for bringing him back and introducing him again.
“Ralston seems to have come back with a lot of confidence. A belief in himself that possibly would have been missing over the last couple of years.
“He looked as if he was going to break through and it didn’t quite happen. That can set a player back mentally, a wee bit.
“If a player can fight back and get where Ralston has got himself, it shows a bit of character.
“I would imagine that if he can continue the form that he’s in and Postecoglou doesn’t have his eye on any others in that position abroad or nearer home, he will be the first on the bandwagon to say: ‘We’ve got to tie this guy up.'”
