McLeish: This may be real reason Goldson hasn't signed Rangers contract after agent reveal
Alex McLeish has suggested Rangers are yet to table a good enough contract offer to Connor Goldson with talks underway.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers boss claimed the 28-year-old’s representatives must feel there is more “leeway” to be had in negotiations.
Speaking to Sky Sports (August 6th), Goldson confirmed talks were underway between his representatives and Rangers over a new deal.
He insisted he was open to staying at Ibrox but admitted he had left discussions in the hands of his agent.
Goldson went on to say he had told his agent he did not want to hear about contract talks until something gets done.
The centre-back’s current terms expire next summer when he could leave Ibrox on a free transfer.

McLeish suggested Goldson’s advisors may be looking to secure a more lucrative deal than what has been offered as yet.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He’ll be guided, obviously, by advisors.
“If he’s not put pen to paper as yet then they must feel there’s a bit more leeway to be had.
“Let’s hope it’s another one who gets tied down.
“One thing you do one is a bit of consistency in the team and in the squad.
“There is a very important nucleus of the team and Connor Goldson is part of that.”
Goldson has been a mainstay for Steven Gerrard and played every single minute across all competitions last season.
He has made a total of 166 appearances since joining from Brighton in 2018.
