McManus issues 'scary' Jota prediction after 'incredible' Celtic development

It is “scary” how good Jota could be for Celtic during the second half of the season.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s fitness.

Jota, 23, missed five games in October with a muscle injury and has only recently returned to the Celtic starting XI.

He has scored once since returning to fitness, off the bench against Dundee United, on 5 November.

McManus claims Jota could go to “another level” during the second period of the season, once he regains full fitness.

“Well, he’s not going to the World Cup so you can use the time to get him right,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“It’s just a shame that Celtic are not in Europe because they would have a fully fit Jota to help them in the Europa League or the Conference League.

“I mean we all saw his goal against Real Madrid, it was an incredible goal. To be Courtois from there was just genius.

“We all know his quality and he showed it on the biggest stage there. He wasn’t even fully fit and that, for me, is the scary thing.

“He will be another level in the second half of the season if he can keep his fitness.”

Jota has dazzled for the Hoops since making his loan deal from Benfica permanent in the summer of 2022.

He has scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 16 games this season.
