McManus shares verdict on Ange Postecoglou quitting Celtic for Everton after source's update

Ange Postecoglou will not quit Celtic to join Everton anytime soon despite questions over Frank Lampard’s future.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Australian’s future.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (15 November) that the Merseysiders have decided to stand by Lampard and give him time to turn their season around after crunch talks following their 3-0 away loss at Bournemouth.

Postecoglou has previously dismissed reports linking him with vacancies at Brighton and Wolves, claiming he is already working at a “big club”.

McManus can’t see the Celtic boss leaving Glasgow for any club in the near future.

“Whenever a Celtic or Rangers manager is doing particularly well and a guy in England loses his job, there will be links,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“As I have said before, I think Ange is quite happy with the project he has going at Celtic. He has a lot of work to do.

“I think he wants to win the treble this year and use that as a platform to strengthen in the summer before going and having a better crack at Europe next season.

“I understand why he has been linked, he is doing really, really well. But I don’t see him leaving Celtic to go to Everton or anywhere else right now.”

Everton have lost seven of their 15 Premier League outings this term – including three defeats in their last five games.

Celtic, meanwhile, are nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

In other news, sources have told Football Insider that Celtic have green-lit a senior star’s exit after talks held.
