Charlton Athletic are putting the finishing touches to the signing of Liverpool forward Liam Millar on Tuesday, Football Insider understands.
The League One club have seen off competition from London rivals Millwall to reach an agreement to take the Canada international, 21, on loan.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Millar is set to undergo a Charlton medical as he finalises a move for the rest of the campaign.
There has been extensive international in the forward from Championship and League One clubs in the versatile attacker.
Nine clubs enquired about Millar in the last window, including Millwall, QPR and Stoke City and many of those have continued to keep tabs.
But Charlton have secured an agreement and hope to tie up the deal in the coming days in time for him to make his debut on Friday, when Lee Bowyer’s men host Accrington Stanley.
The third-tier side are sixth in League One and pushing hard for instant promotion back to the Championship.
Millar has spent this campaign playing for Liverpool Under-23s and has captained them on a number of occasions.
He has racked up 14 appearances for the age-group side this season, scoring five goals.
Millar can play at centre-forward or on the left side of the attack, the position he has been occupying mainly for the Under-23s this season.
He had a spell on loan at Kilmarnock last season – his second at the Scottish club – and has been capped eight times by the Canada national side.
Millar has just one senior Liverpool appearance under his belt, in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury Town in February when the first teamers were all rested.
