Celtic youngster Liam Morrison is to sign a three-year contract with Bayern Munich as he completes a sensational move, Football Insider can reveal.

The Hoops youngster, 16, has agreed personal terms and completed a medical with the European giants in a transfer that will send shockwaves through Scottish football.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the transfer is now done bar the formalities in what the club regard as a major blow.

The teenage defender had a year remaining on his youth registration, but Bayern and the player's representatives legally challenged it and Celtic have been forced to let him head to Germany.

Celtic are in line for only a minimal compensation fee as the Bundesliga champions have taken advantage of cross-border regulations to make Morrison the latest in a line of British rising stars to move to the division.

His departure is a massive blow for Celtic as they have had high hopes for the teenager, who has been capped by Scotland at Under-17 level and is regarded as one of the outstanding players in the country under the age of 20.
