Medical done & contract signed: Leeds to announce another signing from PL club - Sources

Leeds United are to announce the signing of Sam Greenwood from Arsenal today, Football Insider understands.

The forward, 18, arrived at Elland Road yesterday to put the finishing touches to a transfer from the Premier League giants worth an initial £1.5million.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Greenwood signed a three-year contract after previously completing a medical.

He will be one of two new striker signings to be announced by the Premier League new boys along with club-record recruit Rodrigo.

United are putting the finishing touches to the Rodrigo signing after agreeing a £27million deal announced on Tuesday night by Valencia.

The Spain international underwent a medical in his homeland yesterday morning after agreeing the terms of a £100,000-a-week new contract that immediately rockets him into the category of top earner at the club.

Rodrigo will sign for four years, while Greenwood has joined for one year less as he becomes their three seven-figure signing this summer after Helder Costa from Wolves and Illan Meslier from Lorient.

He has been persuaded to cut his ties with Arsenal to join a club where Marcelo Bielsa has demonstrated great faith in youth during his two years at the helm.

Greenwood is predominantly a centre-forward but has played a number of matches for Arsenal’s youth teams at right wing and as a number 10.

The youngster has scored 15 goals and supplied six assists in 39 appearances for Arsenal Under-18s as well as played seven times for the their Under-23s and netted once.

The former Sunderland youth has been capped by England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels.

In other news, Leeds United have been told the price Rangers will agree to sell Ryan Kent for.
